PREPARING FOR YOUR INFUSION

New to Infusion?

Let’s Walk You Through It.

At Poudre Infusion Therapy, we know that starting a new treatment can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re receiving care in one of our infusion suites or at home, our team is here to make the process as smooth, supportive, and comfortable as possible. This useful information will help you prepare for your infusion treatment.

Before Your First Infusion

  • Referral Required: All infusions require a physician’s order. If your provider hasn’t submitted one yet, we’ll work with you to get it started.

  • Insurance Coordination: Our team will verify your insurance benefits, obtain prior authorization if needed, and provide a clear estimate of your out-of-pocket costs.

  • Expect a Call from Us: We’ll confirm your appointment, go over your treatment plan, and answer any questions before you arrive.

  • Tell Us About Your Health: Be ready to share your current medications, allergies, and any past reactions to infusion therapy so we can prepare for a safe, personalized experience.

More About Sessions

Here's some more information you should know about sessions.

Prepping for Your Visit

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water the day before, the day of, and the day after your infusion (unless advised otherwise). Hydration helps with IV placement and may reduce side effects.

  • Take Your Medications: Continue your usual medications and meals unless told otherwise by your physician.

  • Dress Comfortably: Wear loose-fitting clothing with short sleeves or layers for easy access to your arm or port.

If You’re Receiving In-Home Therapy

  • A registered nurse will visit your home, administer treatment, and monitor you during the infusion.

  • Medication and equipment will be delivered in advance.

  • Please prepare a clean, quiet space where you can sit comfortably during treatment.

What to Expect During Treatment

Each room is equipped with TV, Wi-Fi, pillows, blankets, snacks, and drinks, and our private restrooms are just steps away.

  • You’ll be welcomed by our friendly nursing staff and shown to your private infusion room.

  • Your nurse will take your vitals, explain the process, and begin the infusion.

  • Most infusions take 30–90 minutes, but some may be longer or shorter depending on your treatment.

  • You’ll be monitored throughout for comfort and safety.

  • Afterward, we’ll go over any follow-up instructions and schedule your next visit if needed.
